About CDM Africa Climate Solutions

CDM Africa was founded in 2003 as an end to end advisory firm in the then nascent field of carbon finance, with a particular focus on the Clean Development Mechanism. During the years we have built a strong, multi-disciplinary team, a track record and  extensive experience in all aspects of CDM projects. We have a fundamental understanding of the African  and international carbon market and how to meet our clients’ needs within this framework.

Diversification created  a  new division specialising in climate change policy and how to incorporate this within existing client  policies on the environment and corporate social responsibility. Carbon footprinting is often an essential element in our policy advisory work. In line with our initial focus on leveraging carbon finance for Africa we have created a subsidiary PoA Africa Climate Solutions (Pty) Ltd to act as a Co-ordinating and Managing Entity (“CME”) for Programmes of Activity under the CDM.

CDM Africa’s understanding of the carbon market structure and design, regulatory incentives and the economic instruments relevant to the policies in question can form a key component of industry strategies for developing the potential of additional income for small and large capital projects. We can help firms analyze the marginal costs or benefits of emissions reductions, determine optimal allocation mechanisms, examine program design issues, assess market position as a buyer or seller and design trading strategies.
